Buy or rent a container?
Purchase or rent a container?
Sea containers come in various sizes. Depending on the destination, you can choose to buy or rent a sea container. Both have advantages and disadvantages. For example, renting is cheaper and flexible, but sometimes buying is financially more attractive. We explain what you should take into account.
Purchasing a container
When you are going to use a container more often or for a longer period of time, it is cheaper to buy a container. This means that you always have your own containers at your disposal, regardless of the world market. In addition, the containers always retain some value. Even when the containers have been completely written off, they can be converted and used, for example, as a storage container. Even when the container goes to a location where it is unclear whether there is a return freight, the best solution is to purchase one yourself.
Container rentals
Just as purchasing a shipping container has advantages, renting a container can also have advantages for you. For example, if you do not regularly need a container, it may be more interesting to rent one once-only. In addition, if you don’t have the space to store the containers when they are not being used, renting a shipping container may be a very good option.
